We
are one of Britain's leading producers of Braille, large
print and audio recordings.
Our Mission Statement
Creating
accessible opportunities for all our clients is always at
the forefront of our work - and the services we provide
reflects that.
Improving a persons knowledge, independence
and safety is of paramount importance for all - including
the visually impaired - and Braille, large print and specially
recorded audio documents help accomplish these things for
those with little or no sight.
Following the introduction of the
Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA), which came into
force as a vehicle to help combat discrimination faced by
the UK’s population of disabled people, we, as a company,
are making every effort to help public service providers
bring their policies into line with the legislation. Under
the Act, companies and all public service providers have
an obligation to make reasonable adjustment to the way they
operate in order to accommodate the needs of persons with
a disability. For us, our mission is to encourage them to
make their literature available to the sight impaired in
formats they can readily access - like, Braille, for instance,
large print and audio recordings.
The services we provide our clients
are always of the highest standard and we take great pride
in everything we do for them. Upon taking on a new client,
we give them our absolute assurance that we will do everything
within our powers to meet their needs and requirements and
also to promise them that their business interests will
be protected at all times.
Here
at Braille Transcription UK Ltd all our staff have been
trained in the use and reading of Braille. Everything we
produce passes through several production channels before
it is eventually dispatched to the client. The section on
How We Produce Braille gives
you an overview of all that is involved. If you would like

It heartens us greatly to hear clients
saying that they have seen a significant increase in business
now that they are offering Braille and large print supplied
by us. It is equally encouraging to hear the same clients
commenting on the letters of thanks they have received from
their sight impaired customers.
Our endeavours to encourage more companies
to embrace Braille and alternate reading formats for their
visually impaired clients is an ongoing process, and we
are delighted with the number of businesses who have responded
favourably to our initiatives. Suffice to say that once
company directors and business proprietors come to realise
the significant impact Braille, large print and audio recordings
have had on their profitability, among other things, they
can’t ever imagine being without them.
Already
we have placed Braille and large print into restaurants,
the leisure industry, doctors surgeries and solicitors offices,
the art world, and even into the hands of Mr David Blunkett.
Telecommunication companies, theatres and universities have
also benefited enormously from our services.
The success of our company has largely
been achieved on the grounds of numerous referrals we receive,
but also due to the invaluable support and industrious nature
of our director and company secretary, who are themselves
blind, whose knowledge and vast repertoire of experience
continues to be the driving force behind all our projects
and new initiatives.
Finally,
we wish to offer our thanks and gratitude to all our clients
who have remained loyal to us since our inception and to
those whom have joined us along the way; we also wish to
thank the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce, Business
Link, and our accountants, Mitten Clarke Ltd, for their
continued support and financial help. And of course, a special
thank you to all our dedicated and industrious staff whom
have all shared in the evolutionary process of Braille Transcription
UK Ltd.
It
is due to their continued backing and involvement that has,
we believe, put Braille Transcription UK Ltd on a secure
footing both for now and for the foreseeable future.
